About Us

Clinton UMC

Clinton United Methodist Church (CUMC) began October 31, 1965 and served as a beacon of love, hope, peace, and light in the community of Clinton.  It continues to do so today.

CUMC is predominately African-American, yet diverse church that is multi-cultural and multi-ethnic.  We is situated near Andrews Air Force Base and have many active duty and military veterans in our church.

We have been blessed to have been led by many wonderful pastors who were dedicated to the mission and vision of Clinton UMC.  Each brought their different gifts and graces to their shepherding role of pastor.  Currently, CUMC is led by Rev. Melaina Trice.

CUMC is a Methodist church which means that it connectional and in communion with all over the US, and throughout Africa, Philippines, and Europe--more than 13 million Christians globally.  The people of the United Methodist Church are putting their faith into action around the world by making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.  Through this connectional system, we are able to make positive changes around the world (in more than 125 countries).

John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Movement, preached grace as the starting and end points of our lives that perfects us to love wholly and completely.  This grace fuels our faith that engages our traditions, scripture, reason, and experiences to be the church that loves all as God loves for the transformation of the world.  Grace fuels us to "do all the good we can, by all the means we can, in all the ways we can, in all the places we can, at all the times we can, to all the people we can, as long as ever we can."

What To Expect

Expect to be welcomed as a beloved child of God.  Worship services start at 10:30 am Sunday morning in person at the church and is streamed in real time for viewers through Facebook live services. We encourage you to arrive about 10 minutes before the service. Please take note of the media area where we have set-up streaming for our online viewers. The pastor, CLM, CLS, or guest speaker will deliver a bible-based message with practical application to help you live out your faith during the week. Services are usually a little over an hour, and then you’re welcome to hang out and talk with people afterwards

If you have children under the age of 5, we have a wonderful volunteer who is in charge of our children's area.  We encourage middle school and high school students, to join their parents in adult service.

Who We Are

Our Mission and Vision

Our church's mission is to go and share Jesus.  This mission reminds us that God loves us freely and abundantly and that love compels us to action, to go out and share love.  As Pastor Trice often says, "we are beloved to be love" in the world.

Our vision is to be a church without walls and grow disciples through worship, study, and service through God's love.  You are welcome to come and join us wherever you are in your spiritual journey whether you are new to church, a long-time Christian, or anywhere in between.  Everything we do is rooted in God's love that compels us to love and is nurtured by the Holy Spirit through worship, study, and service.  You will find a bible study, group, class, and/or ministry that will help you grow as a disciple.

We have a wonderfully committed staff, clergy, and laypersons who work to share Jesus by creating vital ministries for children, youth, young adults, adults, and seniors.  Each person brings their unique gifts, talents, experience, and passion for serving the needs of people and community.

You will find people happy to listen, pray with/for you, and eager to help you wherever you are in your faith journey or life situation.
