Who We Are

The United Methodist Church recognizes two sacraments - Holy Baptism and Holy Communion (The Lord's Supper, The Eucharist).

Baptism

Baptism symbolizes the initiation into the body of Christ, the Church.

The UMC performs baptism in three ways :pouring, immersion, and sprinkling (which is the most common method at CUMC). We recognize the baptism of other Christian churches as long as they baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Infants who are unable to answer the vows for themselves are presented by their parent(s) and be sponsor(s).

Holy Communion

The Communion Table is open to all who love the Lord, Jesus Christ.

The bread represents the body of Jesus and the grape juice represents the shed blood. When we partake of the elements, we remember what Jesus did for us on Calvary.

Communion

Confirmation signifies a young person's commitment to "live as a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ."

Confirmation classes are held for young people beginning at 12 years old. They learn what it means to be a Christian, and what it means to be a United Methodist.
